March 2014, a month of art fairs (TEFAF and MIART)
March 2014 has been a very busy month for us. We have attended along with our clients to two of the most important art fairs in Europe: TEFAF Maastricht and MIART in Milan.
Recognized as the finest art fair in the world TEFAF Maastricht is the most important window for dealers globally. Galleries from all over the world exhibited their best artworks in order to gain attention and prestige in the art sector.
I found particularly interesting the way in which dealers from all over the world presented Italian Post-War artists such as Turi Simeti and Dadamaino (see our work here), which were not considered top selling artists untill now. With raising prices and auction estimates higher than ever before, they are likely to be the new investment trends of the next months.
TEFAF is also an important fair for Impressionism and Modern Art with Alon Zakaim Fine Art covering a leading role with his museum-quality stand.
MIART, Milan art fair, was another important event occurring during this busy month of the year. With mainly Italian galleries showing their works, MIART has surprised me for the constant research of rare artworks.
Many dealers had the possibility of bringing works by Paolo Scheggi, now very rare to find on the market. This, has increased the interest on the artist, which early death left the market with little production of extremely high quality.
Turi Simeti confirmed his role of high end discovery with prices ranging from 30k to 150k and kinetic artworks of artists such as Marina Apollonio and Alberto Biasi emerged thanks to Christie's kinetic art exhibition early this year. I am confident to say that Kinetic art will increase in value in the following months.
